Bethlehem Star Baptist Church in Oklahoma City donated a van to our Foundation.  We appreciate Larry Coats and Al Adams for delivering it to us in Norman. Many thanks to Bethlehem Star for helping us serve veterans and their families.

Our country would not be in existence if it were not for the men and women who have served in the military.  Recently several of us were talking about the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving this great country.  Every day there is always one group or the other who would change what many of us believe as they try to sway the majority to either the left or to the right. I think that most of us are down the middle of the road when it comes to being extreme either the right or to the left.  As long as we continue to have the values that brought our country to where it is today I believe we will continue to be the place that everyone wants to be.  We don’t see people from all over the world trying to become citizens in other countries like they are trying to do to America.  Maybe we have been right all along, to let people determine their future.

Each week we receive calls from all over the United States from veterans who are asking if we have locations like ours in other states.  I wish that all veteran service officers would consider using our system of evidence-based claims to assist the veterans and families in their local area.  For those who are not aware of it, the VA has a Disability Benefits Questionnaires that are filled out by a medical provider.  The VA uses the same Disability Benefits Questionnaire to evaluate a veteran’s disability. These DBQ Forms are available at the VA webpage for most any disease or disability.  Last Thursday one of the first veterans we assisted was from New York City.  When we asked them, where they heard about us it’s always the same either friends or family members who had used our services themselves.  To me we must be making believers out of thousands of people each year from all over this United States.  Maybe we can keep our organization going until all veterans and their families receive the VA benefits for which they are eligible.   Each day we are open we are seeing an average of twenty veterans from other states who had given up on receiving VA benefits in their home state.

Our mailbag was full last week.  Twenty-six of our veterans received a 100% rating for their service-connected disabilities and will receive a combined annual income of $1,053,984.  Thirty-four veterans were rated 10-90% and will receive a combined annual income of $595,391.  Three surviving spouses were approved for benefits and will receive a combined $50,134 a year.

Our organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that relies on donations to be able to provide services to the thousands of veterans and their families who need assistance.  We accept the donation of cars, trucks, motorcycles, or other types of items that can be given to veterans or sold to raise funds to provide for veteran’s needs.  Please remember that your donations should be tax-deductible on your income taxes. Thank You for supporting our Foundation.  You can also donate anytime online at or by mail at PO Box 592 Washington, OK  73093.

We have power wheelchairs and scooters that have been donated.  If you know a veteran who needs one, please contact us.

Counselors from the Vet Centers are here each session, and a Legal Aid representative is here on Thursdays.  We have food baskets available for those who qualify.  We look forward to your visit and thank you for trusting us to help you with your VA matters.

We are available every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 1268 North Interstate Drive Norman, OK 73072.  We open the doors by 5:30 a.m., and we begin working as soon as volunteers have their computers ready.  Our line starts as early as 4 a.m.
